The Story Behind JERI
Our journey began with firsthand experience. J. Michael Schulz, founder of Smart Door Solutions, spent years working in construction, where he witnessed the daily struggles individuals faced when navigating residential doors. What seemed like a simple action—opening a door—was a major challenge for those with mobility limitations. Traditional home designs did not prioritize accessibility, and existing solutions were either too costly, overly complex, or intended for commercial spaces.
Determined to create a better alternative, Smart Door Solutions was born, and with it, JERI: Joe’s Entry Regulation Interface. Designed with real people in mind, JERI is an affordable, user-friendly, and non-contact door-operating system that allows individuals to move freely within their homes—without reliance on assistance.
